Individuality and Society: How to Be Yourself in a Collective World
Someone asked me how do we know what level of individuality we can have to still fit into this society. And since this article was written due to someone's question, I take this opportunity to leave you a message. If you have any questions or suggestions, don't hesitate to contact! Your collaboration will always be truly appreciated! Let us now return to the topic of individuality and society.
What Does It Mean to Be an Individual?
First, let's explore what individuality is. Nowadays, as I can see, there´s still a lot of confusion on this topic, because society grew up being taught that being individual is to be selfish, but is that really true? What do you mean by individuality? Individuality is when we accept to be who we really are, regardless of what others say or think, that is, regardless of what society teaches us. Being individual is having the courage to accept our peculiarity and to apply and express our own ideas and beliefs.
Expressing Your True Self Without Causing Harm
But how can we do this without disturbing others? Well, let's be realistic! There´s always someone who will feel uncomfortable in our presence, because it doesn´t resonate with them and many people will disagree too, due to their experiences and outlook on life. But does that mean we're going to offend someone? Of course not! There are many incompatible energies (which we are), but that never implies being disrespectful, quite the contrary! The best thing to do is to learn to communicate with total respect even if there´s a discord of opinion. The best option is to listen carefully and speak our perspective, but without unnecessary offenses or comments. We just need to be concise and clear. It´s also very important to stick to the facts and be as precise as possible.
Confidence in Your Perspective and Beliefs
If we don't agree, we only have one option left. As they say today, let us agree to disagree. And that´s always much healthier than arguing, thinking that you are the only one right. It doesn't exist, it doesn't make sense! After all, each one is located at a different point in space, so they have a different point of view. One will see the front, while the other will see the back. Does that mean they are wrong? Of course not! Everyone is right for their own conscience and for what they need to learn to develop their soul's wisdom.
I´d like to leave you with some tips. I hope you find them useful! Don´t be overwhelmed by doubts when expressing your point of view, as it´s your knowledge and wisdom and that´s very important. Don't doubt that! That's what you learned and believe, period! A final suggestion is: don´t defend yourself when explaining your beliefs, as they´re yours and you have every right to think through your mind and not through others, including mine.
You Are Responsible for Your Own Path
To broaden the vision on this subject a little more, let us address the following: only you truly know yourself, so only you know what is best for you. Yes, only you know what you need. Only you know what you want and what you don't want. I say this with the awareness that we are the only beings responsible for ourselves. You have all the responsibility and power over your life, regardless of facts considered uncontrollable. Remember the thought, the word, the action, the feeling and the vibration. Yes, it´s the law of attraction. Use it wisely!
Adapting and Growing as an Individual
Continuing with the theme of individuality…. Being individual doesn´t mean being stuck in a belief system and never progressing, quite the contrary! As we are always learning, we are, therefore, constantly changing and progressing. With that awareness, we begin to understand that it´s very important to be increasingly receptive to changes and adaptation. And if one or more beliefs no longer serve us, we need to let them go and, at the same time, replace them with others that serve our purpose and our mission at a higher level, duly adapted to the new circumstances. Something that I learn throughout life is that there´s nothing static or anything permanent. Even if we don't like it on a certain level, it won't change reality. The best thing to do is to accept and embrace the truth. It's a matter of choice!
Understanding Society’s Role in Individual Growth
Now, I´d like to talk about society. But what is society? Society is simply a grouping of beings, regardless of location. Society is just a group that involves the whole planet, at the very least! After all, we are universal beings. I´d like to emphasize that society is composed of beings who have their individuality. Each being is unique and society exists due to the specific characteristics of each individual. As you can see, the base of society is the individual.
Why Individuality Strengthens Society
So why would we be slaves to society or why would we behave like robots that have nothing new to offer? How can we contribute to society's ascension, if we are all equal and apply all the same methods? It wouldn't make sense, would it? I imagine that many would say: but if we do everything we want, the planet would become chaos. Well, individualism is always operated with profound respect for human beings, the planet and the universe and with full awareness of the limits between us and others. If that doesn't happen, we can't call it individualism, but a lack of respect! Individualism is no problem, just a lack of awareness!
The Heart vs. The Mind: Finding Balance
I understand that there are rules that are very important to follow, but instead of being called rules, they could be called principles and values. It would be better if we were guided by our heart and not by our mind. It´s true that we need a balance between our thoughts, feelings and actions, because only then we can act with full awareness. But remember, the heart is the biggest brain of all. The heart guides, and the mind receives.
Final Thoughts: Be Yourself, Contribute to Society
After these reflections, I can conclude that individuality contributes to society, but that when society imposes certain rules on us through the selfishness of many, these rules are limiting the individual and delaying the development of society. As long as we follow the minds of others and as long as we don't use ours, we are just being puppets. They lift the rope and we move at their will. But remember that our conscience and our judgment are above all. Never think that your voice has no value or importance, because it does! As the saying goes: two heads are better than one. Now, imagine millions...!
In closing, I´d like to leave you with these words: each of you has a very specific gift or talent that no one else has. If all of you contribute your wisdom, society will advance at the speed of light. So, will you give up, folding your arms and hiding who you truly are, or will you contribute to the development of humanity, being yourself?
